We were chuffed to get a great review for our Touchwood restaurant in the Sunday Mercury. The review describes our fresh-cut chips as ‘a delight. Perfectly cooked every time, with lovely crispy bits’ and describes our rare-breed Jimmy’s Farm burgers as ‘…divine things. Good to chew. Rich in taste. And enjoyably filling’.

Posted by ais in Featured, Recent News | 0 commentsThe last two weeks of the summer holidays are now upon us and as September fast approaches, don’t forget to make the most of summer before it ends. We’ve been running our Kids Eat Free offer because we know that parents often need help entertaining their children over the summer break and that isn’t cheap. We thought we’d go a step further by suggesting our top 5 ways to keep entertained this summer…and all of these ideas are FREE!
1. Rounders in the park – Have a day of sporting fun with a game of rounders in the park and spend the day getting competitive. A game of rounders will keep your kids entertained for hours and all that running round won’t do any harm to your waistline!
2. Get green fingered - Your garden is a great place to keep your kids entertained. Why not plant seeds and flowers and give your garden some pampering with your kids. Its also educational as your family watch the progression of your plants/flowers.
3. Get crafty - We’ve all watched presenters on Blue Peter make wonderful creations out of empty washing up liquid bottles and sticky-back plastic. So why not get creative and help your child to make a masterpiece to pass the time? You can get inspiration from Blue Peter here http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/bluepeter/thingstodo/.
4. Go to a museum – Entry is free into most museums in the UK, so get cultural and help your child to learn and see wonderful works of art without spending a single penny.
5. Movie Marathon - British summer is famous for its unpredictable weather. Don’t let the rain dampen your fun though. Pick a stack of favourite dvd’s and have a movie marathon to pass the time.
We’ve also found a great website where you can select your location and see what free activites are available in your local area: http://www.dayoutwiththekids.co.uk/.
If you have any good suggestions, leave a comment. We’d love to hear what you’ll be getting up to with your kids!

We couldn’t believe our eyes when we stumbled across this article in the Metro. A burger the size of a cow!

Posted by ais in Featured, Random News | 0 commentsWe were really interested to read the Guardian’s insight into the perfect chip. The article highlights how Maris Pipers are the best potatoes for perfect chips. We agree – all of our chips are fresh cut in store daily from Maris Piper potatoes. They also highlight that ‘according to David and Si Hairy-Biker, who look like chaps who enjoy a good fish supper, double-frying is “the secret of good chips” ‘. Our chips are double fried, first blanched to seal that flavour and then fried again to give our chips a delicious golden crisp. As stated in the article the perfect chip should ‘golden to the eye, hot and fluffy within’. We try our very best to ensure that our chips are delicious and tasty, for you to enjoy. We hope that you enjoy them as much as we love making them.
